Terms of Service
Last updated 12 July 2026
Please read these Terms carefully. They govern your use of Glowlist as a client or as a freelance artist, including bookings, deposits, balance payments, commission and cancellations.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Glowlist (“Glowlist”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the operator of the website at glowlist.app and related applications (together, the “Platform”). By creating an account, accessing or using the Platform, whether as a client or as an artist, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
These Terms apply to both clients and artists. Where a clause is specific to one role it says so; otherwise it applies to all users.
2. Definitions
- “Client” means a user who books, or seeks to book, beauty services through the Platform.
- “Artist” means a self-employed, freelance beauty professional (including makeup artists, hair stylists and nail technicians) who offers services through the Platform.
- “Services” means the beauty services provided by an Artist to a Client.
- “Booking” means a confirmed request by a Client for Services from an Artist made through the Platform.
- “Booking Fee”/“Commission” means the fee payable to Glowlist as described in clause 9.
- “Deposit” and “Balance” have the meanings given in clause 10.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use the Platform. By using the Platform you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate, current and complete. Artists further represent that they are lawfully entitled to provide the Services in the United Kingdom.
4. Our role — Glowlist is a marketplace
Glowlist operates an online marketplace that connects Clients with independent freelance Artists and facilitates Bookings, payments and communications. Glowlist is not a beauty services provider. When a Client books an Artist, the contract for the Services is formed directly between the Client and the Artist. Glowlist is not a party to that contract.
Artists are independent contractors and are not employees, workers, agents, partners or representatives of Glowlist. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship between Glowlist and any Artist or Client. Each Artist is solely responsible for the Services they provide, including their quality, safety, legality and suitability.
5. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use. We authenticate accounts through our identity provider and may verify your identity, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information or are used in breach of these Terms.
6. Artist terms
- You are a self-employed freelancer. You are solely responsible for registering with HMRC and for accounting for and paying all income tax, National Insurance and any VAT arising from your Services.
- You are responsible for holding appropriate professional and public liability insurance, and for holding any qualifications, certifications, licences or registrations required to provide your Services lawfully and safely.
- You must keep your listings, pricing, availability and portfolio accurate and up to date, and must not upload content you do not own or have permission to use.
- You must provide the Services with reasonable skill and care, honour confirmed Bookings, and communicate promptly and professionally with Clients.
- You set your own prices, deposit percentage and cancellation policy within the options the Platform provides.
- You authorise Glowlist to collect payments from Clients on your behalf and to deduct the applicable Commission before remitting the balance to you via our payment processor.
7. Client terms
- You must provide accurate booking details, including location and any relevant health information (such as allergies or skin sensitivities) that the Artist reasonably needs.
- Where Services are provided at your location, you must provide a safe and suitable environment for the Artist.
- You must treat Artists with respect and must not engage in abusive, discriminatory, unsafe or unlawful conduct.
- You are responsible for paying the Deposit at the time of Booking and the Balance on completion, as described in clause 10.
8. Bookings and completion codes
A Booking is confirmed once the Deposit is successfully taken. After the appointment, the Artist marks it complete, at which point a one-time completion code is generated and shown to the Client only. The Client provides this code to the Artist, who enters it to confirm completion and trigger release of funds. This mechanism protects both parties: the Artist is paid promptly on confirmed completion, and the Client controls confirmation.
If no code is entered, funds may be released automatically a set period after the scheduled appointment, unless the Client has raised an issue (see clause 12).
9. Fees and commission
Glowlist charges Artists a Commission on Bookings. The Commission is a percentage of the Booking value and is disclosed to the Artist before a Booking is accepted. Glowlist deducts the Commission from amounts collected from the Client before remitting the remainder to the Artist. Clients are not charged a separate Glowlist booking fee at this time. We may change our fees on reasonable notice; changes do not affect Bookings already confirmed.
10. Deposits, balance payments and card mandate
At the time of Booking, the Client pays a non-refundable Deposit (a percentage of the total set by the Artist). To enable the remaining Balance to be collected, the Client’s payment card is securely saved with our payment processor and the Client authorises Glowlist (on behalf of the Artist) to charge the Balance to that card when the appointment is marked complete. This authorisation is a continuous payment mandate limited to the Balance of the relevant Booking.
If the Balance cannot be collected (for example, the card is declined), the Client remains liable for the Balance, the Deposit is retained, and the Client will be asked to pay the outstanding amount. Funds are released to the Artist once the Balance is collected. See clause 13 regarding unpaid balances.
11. Cancellations, refunds and no-shows
Each Artist sets a cancellation window. If a Client cancels within that free-cancellation window, the Deposit is refunded. If a Client cancels after the window, or does not attend, the Deposit is non-refundable and compensates the Artist for their reserved time. Artists must not cancel confirmed Bookings without good reason; where an Artist cancels, the Client receives a full refund of amounts paid.
Nothing in this clause limits any statutory cancellation or refund rights a Client may have as a consumer under applicable law.
12. Completion, release of funds and disputes
A Client may raise an issue with a Booking (for example, if the Artist did not attend or the Services were not as agreed). Raising an issue pauses any automatic release of funds while we review the matter. Glowlist may, acting reasonably, release funds to the Artist, refund the Client, or hold funds pending resolution. Glowlist’s role in a dispute is limited to that of a payment intermediary; the underlying service contract remains between the Client and the Artist, and Glowlist is not obliged to resolve service-quality disputes but may assist at its discretion.
13. Unpaid balances and account restrictions
If a Client has an outstanding Balance that remains unpaid for more than fourteen (14) days after the appointment was marked complete, we may restrict the Client’s ability to make new Bookings until the outstanding amount is paid, and we may take reasonable steps to recover the debt. Repeated non-payment may result in suspension or termination of the account.
14. Off-platform circumvention
Artists and Clients introduced through the Platform agree not to circumvent the Platform in order to avoid Commission — for example, by arranging or paying for Services introduced via Glowlist outside the Platform. This clause protects the service that connected the parties. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly circumvent the Platform.
15. Content, portfolios and intellectual property
Artists and Clients retain ownership of content they submit (such as portfolio images and reviews). By submitting content, you grant Glowlist a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and use that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. You warrant that you own or are licensed to submit the content and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights. All Glowlist trade marks, branding and software are owned by Glowlist and may not be used without permission.
16. Reviews
Clients may leave reviews of Services they have received. Reviews must be honest, based on genuine experience, and must not contain unlawful, defamatory or abusive content. We may remove reviews that breach these Terms, but we do not otherwise edit reviews to change their substance.
17. Prohibited conduct
- Using the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
- Providing false, misleading or impersonating information;
- Harassing, threatening, discriminating against or endangering any user;
- Interfering with, probing or attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Platform or its systems;
- Scraping, harvesting or misusing other users’ data; or
- Attempting to circumvent payments, fees or these Terms.
18. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glowlist disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, regarding the Platform and, in particular, regarding the Services provided by Artists, which are the sole responsibility of the Artist. Glowlist does not guarantee the quality, safety or legality of any Services, or that any Booking will be fulfilled.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, Glowlist is not liable for the acts or omissions of any Artist or Client, and Glowlist’s total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Platform is limited, in aggregate, to the greater of (a) the total Commission or fees paid to Glowlist by you in the six (6) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £100. Glowlist is not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
19. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Glowlist against any claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or — in the case of an Artist — from the Services you provide.
20. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Platform or its users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including clauses on fees owed, liability, indemnity and governing law) will survive.
21. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer-protection law, which apply in addition to these Terms.
22. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
23. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
